hmmm.... People and words..... today i had the pleasure of translating for a fellow Somali at the local bank.... he had an issue with his bank statement and in his eyes some things did not quite add up, well his predicament was hindered more by the fact that he spoke very few words of English, he was by all means tying his best to dash out of his mouth what his tongue would not permit; so he mumbled "som-lish" (Somali/English). These forced words left his lips in short well timed bursts of "somalo - saxon". It felt incredible being able to help a person in need, just by speaking a language well in my case two languages so i tactfully maneuvered the bank clerk and my "friend in need" until all was well and good. Once all the creases were out i left into the sunshine beaming at my good deed of the day. Remembering that it is by shear luck (one thousand and one blessings) that i can even speak English; because i could have been just like him pulling people off the streets for translation favours, if my set of events had been planed out differently. So now i realise that my good deed of the day was no favour but a responsibility, to aid all that i can as long as i can...... because had it not been for a shower of graciousness from ALLAH (SWT) that could have been me, don't take this the wrong way i still pull people of the street for things like direction (as i have no mental compass) but hey at least i can ask for directions in their tongue...... so please share that smile and beam into your sunny days spreading goodness.
peace, prosperity and splashing...
